Introduction to some hypocoercivity methods (Richard Medina Rodriguez)

In this talk, we will focus on the study of hypocoercivity. We explain the main origin problems for this theory, their applications, and some methods. The idea will be to carefully modify the scalar product of some spaces to extend a coercive behavior shown in a subset of such functional space. Finally, we will see some examples from kinetic theory and, if there is time at the end, some problems exhibiting boundary conditions.
