Steepest descent through Wasserstein distance vs minimum flow, and applications in PDE (Noureddine Igbida, Université de Limoges)

Séminaire « Analyse numérique et équations aux dérivées partielles »
Amphi Turing M3

The aim of this talk is to  discuss how the Wasserstein distance and the minimum flow problem can be used to model physical phenomena using PDEs with the steepest descent algorithm. While these two approaches produce the same models in some standard cases, we will show that this is not always true. In this talk, we  focus on some applications in crowd motion and congestion.
